I’m experiencing hair loss, but can’t afford the hair transplant cost. How can I encourage hair growth?

There are, of course, alternative ways people choose to grow their hair if they don’t want to go down the surgical route. These can include, but aren’t limited to the following remedies.

  • Rogaine prescription
  • Propecia prescription
  • Laser therapy

However, it should be noted that these methods also have costs to keep in mind, and that the surgical methods are much more effective. For example, here is a before and after image of India Willoughby, a famous TV presenter, after her hair transplant with Dr Saifi.

What’s involved in the true cost of a hair transplant?

If you’re struggling with hair loss, you might not know that there are various factors you’re paying for in the hair transplant cost. It’s not just the transplanted hair. You’re paying for the time and quality of the FUE or FUT hair transplant surgeon.

For example, they should go through your recovery and hair growth journey with you.

Hair transplant costs: The quality of the clinic

Check for widely-recognised industry awards.

For example, have they been awarded by Treatment Abroad or alike surgery authorities who notice and praise the safest, most successful clinics?

Or if a surgeon has worked with the NHS privately, this would be a good indicator to a respectable surgery. Having no awards or any form of testimonial in the surgery industry should be a red flag.

A qualified hair transplant should involve at least one consultation, and a completely safe procedure.

Hair transplants cost: How much hair you want to be transplanted

The more hair you want to have, the more money it will cost. So, if it’s only a patch or two, this will cost much less than adding hair to your entire scalp will be priced at. The best way to think of it is the hair transplant cost per graft.

What is a hair graft? A hair graft is the tiny bit of skin that a singular strand of hair sits on.

The skill level of the surgeon

If you choose a qualified, reputable surgeon for your hair transplant, you should expect to pay for that quality. These surgeons will have trained and become certified to practice by a recognised authority. Dr Marwan Saifi, who has been a specialist since 1995, is:

  • Qualified from the global authorities at the ISHRS, or the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, recognised by the NHS
  • Qualified with a Diploma certification from the American Board of Hair Restoration (since 2011)
  • Founder and owner of the American Aesthetic Medicine and Hair Transplant Center (AM-MED)
  • Diplomate of the Amerian Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS)
  • Fellow of International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (FISHRS)
  • ISHRS Approved Fellowship Training Program Director

The type of procedure you choose, FUT or FUE hair transplant

There are two types of hair transplant procedures.

  1. FUE, or follicular unit extraction
  2. Follicular unit transplantation, or linear strip method

If you would like to find out more about what happens in the process of each procedure, you can learn what is involved as part of the hair transplant surgeries in Poland that we offer. It’s available for both men and women.

Location affects the hair transplant cost

You can get a hair transplant in lots of countries, including the UK. But the operation can cost more in the UK.

Lots of people often choose to travel abroad to have their procedure because it can be more affordable. You’ll often find that there are reputable clinics with a qualified, experienced surgeon, and that their team offer a high quality, caring process including making sure you are fully recovering.

CountryAverage hair transplant cost
Germany4-5,000 Euros
UKup to £10,000
Poland£2,500 – £4,000

Travel costs

If you travel for cosmetic surgery abroad, there will of course be travel costs. But did you know that direct, return flights to Poland can cost as little as £50, and take as short as 2-3 hours?

Talk to the hair transplant team at the clinic you’re interested in, and ask them what they offer in terms of accommodation. They can often provide some form of accommodation as a part of aiding your journey to post-operation recovery. Or at the very least, the team can provide comfortable travel direct from the airport to your clinic, so you can focus on your operation.

For example, our team offers the service of picking you up from the airport and taking you straight to the clinic, which is only a short drive of under 10 minutes.

FAQs about hair transplant costs

Can I just get a cheap hair transplant?

It’s never a good idea to grab a ballpark figure from a load of nearby clinics to hunt down the cheapest choice. Don’t find the cheapest hair transplant price and jump straight in to your hair transplant procedure just because you’ll save money.

Why isn’t it a good idea? Generally speaking, you get what you pay for. There are so many factors to keep in mind when you’re thinking about hair transplants. Having cosmetic surgery is a big deal, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

We certainly don’t take the surgical procedure lightly. That’s why Dr. Marwan Saifi will discuss all of your options with you when it comes to hair loss solutions.

Is a hair transplant worth it for the cost?

Yes. It can boost the confidence and self esteem of people who’ve been suffering from hair thinning or conditions that affect their hair growth.

Take a look at some of our before and after photos of hair transplants.

What makes a good candidate for hair transplantation?

Have you been struggling with more extensive hair loss for some time? If you continue to lose hair, it might be time to think about the benefits of hair transplants.

People with hair follicles in good health can have a transplant because their hair will remain healthy post operation.

Men who suffer from baldness often choose to have a transplant. In fact, over 50% of men older 50 suffer from androgenic alopecia, or baldness.

What are hair grafts?

Hair Grafts are very small pieces of scalp. They each contain one or two hairs. They are then harvested for a healthy part of the head (usually the back of the head). Then they’re transplanted to a bald area of the scalp. Hair grafts are usually also called hair plugs.
