Penis size is one of those things that can be hard to talk about.
A man can be perfectly healthy, sexually functional and even within the typical size range, yet still feel seriously self-conscious about how he looks. It might affect confidence in intimate situations, make changing rooms uncomfortable, or simply become one of those private insecurities that sits quietly in the back of your mind, poisoning everything.
And because it isn’t something most people discuss openly, it’s also easy to end up comparing yourself against unrealistic expectations.
If you’ve been considering penis enlargement, the first thing to know is that you’re not unusual for having questions about it. The second is that it’s worth approaching the subject with a clear understanding of what treatment can realistically do.
So, what actually happens during penis enlargement surgery? What sort of results can you expect? Is penis girth enhancement permanent? And perhaps most importantly, how safe is it?
Let’s take an honest, comprehensive look.
First: Is Your Penis Actually Smaller Than Average?
Before considering any procedure, it’s worth putting your size into perspective.
Research consistently shows that many men who worry about their penis size actually fall within the typical range. The problem isn’t necessarily anatomy – more often it’s expectation and perception.
Porn, social media, locker-room boasting and the subsequent unrealistic expectations that come with all that can create a completely distorted idea of what “normal” looks like. Many men who believe their penis is too small actually have typical dimensions. To be more specific, a penis is only considered small if, when erect, it measures less than 7.5 centimetres (3 inches). That doesn’t mean your concerns aren’t real.
If the way you feel about your penis is affecting your confidence, relationships or quality of life, it’s super fair to want to understand your options. The important thing is making that decision based on realistic expectations rather than pressure to look like an impossible ideal. A proper consultation should always be part of that process.
What is Penis Enlargement Surgery?
Penis enlargement surgery refers to procedures intended to increase the length, girth, or perceived size of the penis.
There are several techniques used in different clinical settings, including ligament procedures, implants and fat transfer. They are not interchangeable, and their results, risks and evidence base vary considerably.
At Europe Surgery, the procedure offered involves transferring your own fat into the penis to increase girth. Fat is removed through liposuction, purified and then carefully placed around the shaft. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and takes approximately two hours, with a two-day stay in Poland recommended. Surprisingly simple, isn’t it?
Using your own tissue is important because it avoids introducing a permanent synthetic implant into the penis. But there’s an important distinction here: fat transfer is primarily a girth-enhancement technique. Any apparent increase in length can be influenced by changes in surrounding tissue and the way the penis sits, but it won’t offer a straightforward increase in anatomical erect length. That’s why realistic expectations matter.
How Does Fat Transfer Penis Enlargement Work?
The process is relatively straightforward, although the precision involved is important. Here’s what you can expect from this particular penis enlargement treatment:
1. Fat is harvested
A small amount of fat is removed via liposuction from a suitable donor area. This will be decided according to your individual anatomy, as we’ll be looking for excess fat.
2. The fat is purified
The harvested fat isn’t simply transferred from one area of your body to another. It’s processed to separate suitable fat cells from unwanted fluid and other material. Only then will we reintroduce it into your body.
3. The fat is carefully transferred
The purified fat is placed around the shaft of the penis to increase its circumference. The aim is an even, natural-looking contour rather than simply adding as much volume as possible.
This is where surgical expertise and judgement become particularly important. The penis is a highly sensitive and anatomically complex area, so the goal should always be controlled enhancement rather than making your member as big as possible.
What Penis Enlargement Surgery Results Can You Expect?
This is probably the question you’re most interested in.
While we’d love to give you a straightforward “2 inches”, the honest answer is that it depends, and results vary.
Fat transfer can increase penile girth, but there is no universally guaranteed amount of enlargement. Some of the transferred fat can also be reabsorbed by the body over time, so the early post-operative appearance isn’t necessarily the final result. Research on fat transfer has reported considerable variation in how much transferred fat remains – between 25% and 90%.
This is why we would strongly advise against choosing a surgeon or clinic based solely on impressive before-and-after photos or measurements.
A good result isn’t necessarily the biggest one. It’s one that looks proportionate, feels natural and meets the patient’s expectations (without compromising function).
And because published evidence around cosmetic penile enlargement remains limited, anyone considering surgery should have a frank discussion with their surgeon about the likely benefits, limitations and uncertainties before proceeding.
Is Penis Girth Enhancement Permanent?
This is where things get slightly more complicated.
The answer isn’t a simple yes or no. Unlike a temporary filler, fat transfer uses your own tissue. Some of the transferred fat can establish a blood supply and remain as living tissue. However, a proportion can be reabsorbed by the body, particularly during the early months after your penile augmentation surgery.
So while the surviving transferred fat can provide a long-term increase in volume, you shouldn’t expect every bit of the initial enlargement to remain forever. Especially if you’re planning on losing weight – this affects fat throughout your body, including transferred fat.
This is one of the reasons Europe Surgery’s consultation process is important. You need to understand what is realistically achievable for your individual anatomy rather than being promised a particular number.
What About Penis Length?
This is an important distinction because “enlargement” can mean two different things, and increasing girth and increasing length is unlikely to be achieved in the same procedure.
If you’re looking for length, the procedure will likely involve cutting the suspensory ligament that attaches the penis to the pubic bone. However, this doesn’t actually increase the anatomical length of the penis, and medical sources warn that the procedure can have complications including scarring, instability and changes in erectile function.
At Europe Surgery, the procedure offered is primarily girth-based, using fat transfer for enlargement, not ligament cutting. That distinction is worth understanding before you book a consultation.
Is Penis Enlargement Surgery Safe?
This is perhaps the most important question in this entire article.
No surgery is completely risk-free.
Penis enlargement procedures can carry risks including infection, bleeding, swelling, scarring, changes in sensation, unevenness, pain and dissatisfaction with the result. More serious complications, including erectile dysfunction or deformity, have also been reported with some enlargement techniques, though our girth surgery has had no such complications.
We want to note that this doesn’t mean every patient will experience complications. Far from it, but it does mean that “low risk” should never be interpreted as “no risk.”
At Europe Surgery, the procedure is performed using your own fat under local anaesthetic, with the treatment taking around two hours. Patients remain in Poland for a recommended period of two days so that we can monitor their immediate recovery.
Your individual medical history, anatomy and expectations should all be considered before deciding whether the procedure is appropriate.
What is Recovery Like?
One advantage of fat transfer is that the recovery period is generally relatively short compared to some more extensive surgical procedures.
You can expect some degree of:
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Tenderness
- Temporary changes in appearance
The donor area will also need to recover from liposuction.
Europe Surgery recommends around three days for recovery from the liposuction component, while sexual abstinence is recommended for 14 days following the procedure. That said, your surgeon will provide specific instructions based on your procedure and recovery.
And this is one area where patience really matters. The penis may look different immediately after surgery because of swelling, so judging the final result too quickly can give you a completely misleading impression.
What About the Emotional Side?
This is something that often gets lost in discussions about penis enlargement.
A man’s decision to consider treatment isn’t necessarily about wanting to impress anyone. Sometimes it’s about finally feeling comfortable naked. Sometimes it’s about confidence with a new partner. Sometimes it’s about years of comparing yourself with other men and wanting to simply stop thinking about it.
Those feelings deserve to be taken seriously – but they also deserve a realistic response. Surgery cannot guarantee better sexual performance, a better relationship or greater sexual satisfaction. Penis size is only one part of sexual experience, and, once again, medical experts emphasise that concerns about size are often rooted in perception rather than physical function.
If anxiety about size is overwhelming or affecting your everyday life, talking to a doctor or qualified sexual-health professional before surgery can be extremely valuable. The aim should be to go for it because you genuinely want the treatment, not because you feel that you aren’t “enough” without it.
What About Pills, Pumps and Other Enlargement Methods?
If you’ve spent any time searching online, you’ll already know how many products promise dramatic results. Pills, creams, exercises, vacuum pumps, extenders – there’s lots of options! The problem is that the marketing is often considerably stronger than the evidence.
Reports indicate that most advertised enlargement products don’t have convincing evidence behind them, and some can even cause injury. Vacuum pumps can temporarily make the penis appear larger but aren’t a permanent enlargement solution, while exercises such as jelqing can cause pain, scarring or injury.
So if you’re considering enlargement, don’t let an aggressive online advertisement push you into a treatment without understanding the evidence and risks. A medical consultation is a much better starting point.
Is Penis Enlargement Right for You?
There’s no universal answer to this one. The first question isn’t simply “Can I make it bigger?” It’s “Would treatment genuinely improve my quality of life, and do I have realistic expectations about what it can achieve?”
A consultation should explore:
- Your reasons for considering treatment
- Your expectations
- Your general health
- Your anatomy
- The technique being proposed
- Expected results
- Potential complications
- Recovery requirements
It’s particularly important that you understand what will not change as well as what might.
That is what informed consent should look like.
How Much Does Penis Enlargement Cost?
At Europe Surgery, penis enlargement surgery costs £1,140. This includes the procedure and associated surgical care, although your individual treatment plan will be confirmed during your consultation.
Penis Enlargement at Europe Surgery
At Europe Surgery, penis enlargement is approached as a private and personal decision – not something that should ever be embarrassing to discuss.
We always start with a consultation, which gives you the opportunity to discuss your expectations openly and understand whether the procedure is actually appropriate for you.
Because when it comes to something this personal, the best outcome isn’t about chasing an unrealistic ideal. It’s about making an informed decision that leaves you feeling more comfortable and confident in yourself.
