- Saline implants have typically a firmer feel
- This type of implant only needs a small incision due to the filling taking place once the implant is inserted.
- There is a possibility for Saline implants to rupture, however, there is no danger to you, due to the body’s ability to absorb saline easily.
- Saline implants are generally not as expensive and can offer a cheaper option.

Which breast augmentation should I choose?
Your surgeon will help advise the best incision type, depending on which effect desired, the size of enlargement and of course, your body type.
The various types of incision:
- Inframammary incision, which is made in the crease under the breast.
- Areolar/periareolar incision, is made around the nipple and allows a slightly more precise placement but is in a more visible position.
- Transaxillary incision is the least popular breast implant incision as it is made around the armpit area and is slightly more difficult to precisely position the implant.
What happens during breast surgery?
Breast augmentation surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and the length of time the surgery takes, is normally one hour or an hour and a half Depending on the amount of breast tissue and skin you have, will be a factor to be discussed regarding insertion and implant placement.
