Can you reverse a hair transplant you’re not happy with?

Yes, you can reverse the impact of a hair transplantation you’re not satisfied with.

We offer a hair transplant repair option for patients.

It’s for those who’ve struggled with hair loss but need repair work from a previous hair transplant surgery.

How much does hair transplant repair cost?

Hair transplant repair costs £2.50 per graft. So it’s from £2,400, depending on how many grafts need repairing. It’s the same technique Dr. Marwan Saifi uses for the hair transplant in Poland. You can find out more information how much a hair transplant costs with us.

Common patient concerns after a poor hair transplant

Lots of people often go through surgery with a hair surgeon, and find that they’re not happy with the results. With so many clinics offering hair transplants and some surgeons not being fully qualified, there can sometimes be a difference in the quality.

Many patients often travel to Turkey or visit Harley Street in the UK. They want new hair and want to feel amazing. They pay for a very, very cheap hair restoration, where prices can be as cheap as £700, but this only is only reflected in the outcome.

Patients are so often left unhappy, disappointed and unconfident in themselves. No one should experience that after hair restoration. Patient safety and happiness should be at core of the procedure. A qualified surgeon should be experienced in adding single hair follicles to achieve the best result for their patient.

Do any of these sound familiar if you’ve had one of the unsuccessful hair transplants?

  • Incorrectly implanted follicles are growing in the wrong direction
  • You’re generally unhappy with the look of your hair
  • Your hairline now looks un-natural

Can you avoid a bad hair transplant?

If you’re serious about taking the next step in your hair loss journey, research the clinic you want to choose properly. If you’re not sure how to check you’re opting for the best clinic, ask these questions.

  • Do they offer a consultation with your surgeon? Make sure you can ask all your questions
  • Do they show any good testimonials? See how other patients have felt about their experience
  • Is their hair transplant surgeon qualified? Check how many certifications they have
  • Is their surgeon specialist in hair transplant repairs? A hair transplant result should be positive!
  • Can you find any before and after pictures? You’ll want to see the results!

Why do some hair transplants fail?

When hair transplants fail,  it can be because:

  • ineffective procedure due to extremely low price or inexperience
  • inadequate aftercare such as smoking too soon or improper shampooing
  • illegal procedure by the clinic or a surgeon who’s not 100% qualified
  • donor hair has been inserted wrong

What causes a bad hair transplant?

Poor follicle angle

If the hair follicle gets inserted at completely the wrong angle, the whole finished look will look slightly off. Each hair that gets embedded in must be done so in a way that means positive hair growth.

In other words, it needs to look natural when the hair has completely grown out. If this isn’t done correctly by a fully qualified surgeon with certifications, it will need to be removed and repaired. Repairing a bad hair transplant can take time and they need to be carefully planned and thought out. That’s why a fully qualified surgeon needs to consult their patient in detail before any work is done.

If the repair isn’t done correctly, and high amounts of hair grafts are removed altogether, it can also lead to scarring in some cases. But a specialist would be able to work around this to ensure full patient confidence.

The hair line is negatively impacted

This can happen so often when people go for cheaper surgery. A great hair design is one thing. Your hair can sit and fall around your face in a natural, beautiful way.

But if the hairline gets lowered or the shape changes, it can affect the way the person’s hair looks completely.

What’s important is that the finished look of the hair needs to fall naturally and match the shape of the face. If it doesn’t, it will look out of place.

Misuse of equipment used during a hair transplant

Unfortunately, this happens too, especially when people pay for a really cheap surgery. If the surgeon isn’t qualified, or doesn’t take the most care possible when using their medical instruments, it can cause scarring. In extreme cases, if there is severe scarring, it can affect the skin and it can make it harder to repair. That’s why you should always choose a specialist if you do need a repair done so you can fully trust them.

Donor depletion

Donor depletion is what happens when the donor area is overharvested. That means, the surgeon has inserted too many grafts and the area is now damaged. The hair grafts are now low quality and won’t be able to be used.

This can cause baldness, which is more difficult to restore. Alternatively, donor depletion can happen when the procedure happens too quickly. A top quality, specialist surgeon will be able to talk the schedule through with you, and ensure that the grafts are to be inserted at appropriate times.

That way, the quality of the grafts remains strong sand healthy and the finish is successful.
